Although government of Pakistan stepped out to provide health facilities to the
people for better health and to control mother and child mortality rate but yet
the Government of Pakistan is not been to get its targets regarding improving
the health of the underprivileged communities. Till date the 68.84 children
loose their lives after and during the pregnancy and 500 pregnant women died
out of every 100,000.
Health department of District Sheikhupura does not have any record about mother
and child, now it is collecting data and going to computerize which will be
available in August 2007. District Sheikhupura’s total population is 3,321,029
and 76.8% comprises on rural area and 23.2% is urban. In district Sheikhupura,
there are only 64 health units(BHU) 60 Rural Health Centers (RHC) 04 Maternal
and child care center, 01 District Health Quarter and 01 Tehsil Health Quarter
Mureedke(THQ), these all centers and hospitals are insufficient for above
mentioned population.
HIV prevalence in Pakistan is currently estimated 0.10 per cent of the adult
population, or 70,000 to 80,000 cases. However, the potential for a rapid,
widespread epidemic is high, with risk factors common to other countries with
high HIV prevalence. These risk factors include, low literacy, poverty, high
fertility, low contraception uptake, and poor access to health and education.
MARS deals with general sickness and serves through raising awareness among the
deprived communities at their door steps with professional gynecologist lady
Doctor and two qualified Staff nurses with the company of 3 Volunteers. It aims
to save the lives of mother and child during and after pregnancy.

Mother and child care to control the mortality during and after pregnancy.

Management of Reproductive Health related problems of adolescents.

Management of other reproductive health related problems of women.

Prevention and management of HIV/AIDS through raising awareness and treatment.
